welcome to open house in our annual Title One fall meaning Essa requires that each title school hold an annual meeting of Taiwan families in order to inform you of your school's participation and Title 1 explain the requirements and explain your rights as parents and family members to be in by in tonight's PowerPoint you will learn what does it mean to be a Title 1 school and my rights as a parent what can Title 1 funds be used for and how does our school use those items what is the school Improvement plan or sip how is family and parent engagement fun dead what is the parent and family engagement policy in compact what curriculum does our school use what test and what are the Tennessee parental involvement standards Title 1 was passed in 1965 under the elementary and secondary Education Act is the largest federal assistance program for our nation schools receive extra funding from the federal government these dollars are used to identify students experience and provide additional staff programs materials and supplies trainings inconvenience and activities the families and parents of Title 1 students have a right by law to be involved in decisions made at both the school and district-level on your child's level of achievement on test in Reading language arts writing mathematics and science request and receive information on the qualifications of your child's teacher and the paraprofessionals who are working with your child request opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions and to participate as appropriate in decisions about the education of your child and the school is required respond to any such suggestions as soon as possible Cedar Grove are Title 1 funds are used to address the following School personnel technology and Equipment such as iPads and laptops staff development parent involvement instructional materials for teachers and students and other Title One program which all benefit the entire School here you can see items that were purchased by are Title 1 funds at Cedar Grove the preview the school Improvement plan Lucy identification of the schools planning to engage in the planning process A needs assessment and summary of academic and non-academic data prioritize goals strategies and action steps to help dressy academic and non-academic needs of students teacher and staff professional development budgets and the coordination of resources the school must include family Representatives on the school planning team are goals to the previous school year were to improve 5th grade English language arts achievement improved 4th grade math and English language arts growth and improve early literacy achievement grades kindergarten through three how is parent and family engagement funded for the 20 school year we received approximately $7,000 in parent and family engagement funding we plan to use for events like open house read to succeed cheers and cheers for kindergarten parents Culture Night bullying and social emotional learning sessions what is a parent and family engagement this policy address is how the district and school will implement the parent and family engagement requirements County Title 1 parent engagement policy can be viewed on the Rutherford County Schools web page or by contacting Michelle Carter who is the facilitator of federal programs at the central office a student School parent and family compact is a written that outlines how the entire School Community student School staff parents and families will share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement the compact will provide instruction teacher conferences at least Lincoln Elementary School provide parents with reports on their child's progress provide parents reasonable access to staff for my parents to volunteer at the school your regular to a meaningful communication between family members and School staff contact can be found in student agendas and on the school web page
