hello and welcome to Cedar Grove's annual Title 1 meeting for 2020 to 2023 we are so glad you are here why are we here you might I ask because every student succeeds act or Essa requires that each Title 1 school hold annual meeting of Title 1 families in order to 1 inform you of your school's participation and Title One to explain the requirements of Title 1 3 explain your rights as parents and family members to be involved what will I learn today what is a Title 1 school and my rights as a parent what can Title 1 funds be used for and how does our school use them what is the school Improvement plan or sip what are our school goals how is parent and family engagement funded what is the parent and family engagement policy and compact what curriculum does our school use and what how fast will my child be taking how can I be involved and what are the Tennessee parental involvement standards first let's talk about what is a Title 1 School title one was passed in 1965 under the elementary and secondary Education Act it is the largest Federal assistance program for our nation schools Title 1 schools receive extra funding for title $1 from the federal government these dollars are used to identify students dancing academic difficulties and provide assistance to help these students purchase additional staff programs materials and or supplies and conduct parent family engagement meetings training event and or activities what are my rights the families and parents of Title 1 have a right by law to be involved in decisions made at both the school and District level be provided with information on your child's level of achievement on tap in Reading language arts writing mathematics and science request and receive information on the qualifications of your child's teacher Professionals for working with your child request opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions and to participate as appropriate in decisions about the education your child and the school is required to respond to any such suggestions as soon as practically possible our school time One funds can address the following Personnel technology and Equipment staff development parent engagement instructional materials and other such programs all of which benefit the entire School how it is parrot and family engagement funded for the 2020 to 2023 School we received approximately 4,000 parents and family engagement funding we plan to use these funds for family night and parent trainings what is a family parent and family engagement policy this policy address is how the district and school is implement parent and family engagement requirements of Essa components include how parents and families can be involved in decision-making and activities how parent and family engagement buns are being used how information and training will be provided to Families how the school will build capacity and families and staff for strong parent and family engagement you ever title one parent or family member have the right to be involved in the development of this policy the School parent and family engagement policy will be shared through our school website and ClassDojo in addition the policy can be found here at the River County Title one parent engagement policy for County Schools web page at RC schools.net or you can contact Michelle Carter facilitator of federal programs for more information what is a student School parent and family contact a student School parent and family compact is a written commitment that outlines how the entire School Community students School staff and families will share the responsibility for improved academic achievement the compact will provide high-quality curriculum and instruction and parent-teacher conferences Moline elementary schools provide parents with reports on their child's progress provide parents reasonable access to staff provide parents opportunities to volunteer at the school ensure regular two-way meaningful communication between family members and School staff to the extent practical and in a language family members can understand u.s. Title 1 parents or family members have the right to be involved in the development of the compact the compact will be shared with parents in the spring for editing and revising how can parents and families be involved we need you research has proven that family engagement in education has more impact on student achievement then any other Factor so encouraged attendance monitor grades and school work in Skyward attend family events and meetings join family groups and committees like our PTO reading school classroom newsletters website and havoc and see examples of our learning activities in Dojo our family night this year will be our family stem night and no Amber it resl night in December and this year new in the spring we're going to have a creative and Cultural Family Night Cibolo to sign up for our PTO and get involved today what curriculum does our school use the Tennessee academic standards provide expectations for what's to do for now and be able to do at the end of a grade for each subject area Tennessee's academic standards form the framework for everything taught at Cedar Grove for more information about Tennessee. stomach standard see www.tn.gov backslash content backslash backslash education backslash instruction backslash academics HTML what test will my child be taking Universal screeners in August December and Menifee and benchmark assessments in November and March 1010c ready State Testing in April sometimes known as students scoring Bi-Lo 23rd percentile on universal screeners will receive academic interventions such as clue what is the State Rep work hard the Tennessee Department of Education releases an annual report card on Tennessee schools this report displays state district and school level data for each school year it includes information on demographics achievement academic growth attendance graduation rate and more you can view the data Statewide or you can choose the specific District for school you can view the report card here at www.tn.gov education backslash data backslash report card. HTML what is the school Improvement plan or sick the school Improvement plan or site includes the identification no school planning team and how they will be engaged in the planning process A needs assessment and summary of academic and non-academic data prioritize school strategy and action steps teachers and staff professional development needs and budgets and the coordination of resources this school must include family Representatives on the school planning team what are all words school goals increase Yelich easement in grades three through five with a focus on foundational reading skills before grade 3 increase math achievement in grades 3 through 5 and maintain a value-added score of 5 to recruit rain chain and train effective teachers to increase achievement of e l l students in reading and increase the number of ell students meeting the exit benchmark chronic absenteeism what is chronic active absenteeism it is commonly defined as missing 10% or more of instructional days in District that is equivalent to just missing 18 days of school 8 must-haves to reduce chronic absenteeism build a daily family schedule repair close in get in and school bags at night keep bedtime sacred wake up before the kids have an alarm clock in your child's room chief of regularly scheduled doctor's start the day with a healthy breakfast time the morning routine and practice it to perform Tennessee parental involvement sand state law required the Tennessee Department of Education to develop parental involvement standards in public schools on July 30th 2010 the State Board of adopted six parental involvement standards our school makes a daily effort to implement the following parental involvement standard 1 welcoming All Families the school community to communicating effectively three supporting Student Success for speaking up for every child by sharing power Statics collaborating with community we encourage you to visit the RCs website like going to ww.w dot RC schools.net Federal program central office staff include Mark Gullion coordinator of federal programs in RTI Michelle Carter Federal program specialist Laura Scofield Federal program specialist thank you we appreciate all of your time and energy cuz we partner with you to make it the best year yet
