welcome to the Cedar Grove Elementary Spring planning meeting for 2023 the purpose of our planning meeting is to bring together people who have the greatest stake in the welfare of the students at CG we will review how are Title 1 funds have been spent this current school year 2020 to 2023 the information discussed today will drive How are federal funds will be spent for the next school year 2023 to 2024 Focus for parent engagement decisions made today will be the first step in developing cge School Improvement plan this process ensures federal funds are spent in a way that guarantees success for all the federal Title 1 funds received are in addition to the general purpose funds all schools receive state and local cge qualifies for these funds based on the number of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch funds received benefit all Cedar Grove students funding provides Personnel staff development and engagement opportunities and resources technology and instructional materials now let's take a look at some of our data from 2021 to 2022 one piece of data we closely monitor is our Tennessee value-added assessment system scores also known as te vas this is a measure of growth which shows how much I can admit progress is student makes compared to where they started the school year but some students enter School ahead of the grade-level expectation While others enter academically behind their Finish Line may not look the same the important thing is to make it least a Year's worth of growth and preferably more in order to catch up. who are struggling academically the amount of growth is measured by a growth index score anything between -1 to 1 is considered level 3 which is about a Year's worth of growth looking at Cedar Grove Steve all scores from last year you can see how we scored in fourth grade English language arts we scored a Year's worth of growth at 11:03 in 3rd and 5th grade English language we scored significantly above the growth index with level five looking at our math TiVo scores we scored a level 5 and third floor and fifth grade in addition to reviewing growth data on State Testing we also look at achievement data the academic achievement indicator measures that vintage of students performing on grade level or above on tnready on 2021 2022 State Testing 38.1% of third through fifth graders were considered proficient in ela Cedar Grove sword above State average and just below the district's tnready average of all Rutherford County Schools looking at mad that she meant data you will see that 48 point what percent of third through fifth graders at cge we're on grade level or above outperforming the state and District average based on our school status Cedar Grove Elementary developed a school Improvement plan identifying for priority areas with specific goals the first two priority areas look at improving Ela and math achievement scores for students in grades three through five the third priority area focuses on improving teacher attention teachers are our most valuable resource so we are always working to improve Recruitment and Retention of Highly qualified teachers at cge the fourth priority area focuses on increasing elahe specifically for our English language Learners who make up approximately 40% of our school's population as a Title 1 school we receive additional funding Cedar Grove for the 2020 to 2023 school year our funds were allocated as follows 89% of our funds were spent for additional staff to support the growth of our students in the priority areas we have mentioned 2% of funds were spent on the further education of teachers 2% of our funds were used to support learning through the purchase of instructional materials and programs 6% of our funds were used to purchase technology and Equipment 1% of our fun first event for parent engagement events as you'll notice the largest percentage of our Title 1 funds were used to hire additional staff members as follows one instructional coach to act interventionist one behavior interventionist and to educational ES teachers were able to attend grade level professional Learning Community Days to work on planning engaging effective difference I need instruction and assessments in all areas of curriculum we also offered multiple training events throughout the year to provide support for new teachers and the areas of classroom management support technology and student engagement last year we purchased ViewSonic boards for all classrooms so this year we provided six sessions of you Sonic training to support the implement mission of this technology in the classroom in June we will be sending 18 kindergarten through second-grade teachers to the Elevate conference for student engagement and best practices several years ago we used Title 1 funds to create a stem lab for all pre-k through fifth grade students we continue to support this related arts classroom through the purchase of instructional materials and supplies we purchased generationgenius a video of a science curriculum for 3rd grade through fifth grade to supplement our classroom science instruction our second 3 grade teachers needed instructional materials and assessments to help prepare their students for tcat testing so we were able to purchase these ABC teacup success books for them to you we continue to support one to one algae in classrooms through the purchase of iPads to replace obsolete equipment as well as purchasing a new class set of iPads for our library media specialist we purchased a school-wide poster maker support student learning and behavior teachers can use this equipment to make anchor charts instructional posters and other visuals for the classroom to support our English language Learners and their families we offered it to parent trainings and an DSL family night in addition we organize to school wide family nights for students and their families to engage in activities supporting our standards the first night offered in November focused on stem while the second family night in February showcases grade level projects and Multicultural activities we administer to sir say to our teachers to gain feedback on how to use our federal funds teacher survey results show that the best use of funds were staff and Personnel 121 equipment for students and the addition of our behavior intervention position ask what area they would like to see us spend more Federal funding teachers reported staff development as an opportunity for growth we also administered a survey to her parents and families results showed that cge does a great job providing a safe place for learning informing parents about school events and fostering communication between families and their teachers and administrators survey results showed a need for increased access to community services and resources this concludes Cedar Grove spring planning meeting for 2023 we
