how to record on swivel using iPad so you might be asking yourself what is a swivel this is a robot recording device that uses an iPad to record your movements and everything that is going on in your classroom so it could be useful group or as small group lesson looks like this and its case it says swivel on it a robot device like this which promotes so different chords what's your really going to want and need is swivel robot device Discord and the iPad mini so here's how you're going to set swivel so you can record your lesson container the iPad mini and the cart the short part on so once you have it you're going to find the swivel and you're going to pop the remote out of the back of it where it lives now black belt is what you're going to put your remote on on the table by you the swivel when is going to be get turned on with the power button so you'll know it turns on when you see that light Sharon Stone do is work going to take the iPad and place it in the slot gently now you can tell that iPad is not connected because the lights are red so I'm going to take this white cord this side goes in the back of the switch so it's 4 and then this side goes in connect to try to connect so I'm going to click the home button swipe it's right here in the corner and I'm going to tap it once it's on Eazy-E on this screen or I'm going to go to the camera the capture button which is right here and I'm going to Quick capture so now it's trying to connect to the remote so now I'm going to turn on the remote so on the side of them are going to see the power and the red recording going to turn on with the power button and I'll know it's turned on because the green light turns on and then it's going to connect to my swivel so now I have two green lights it's being strange with the camera session being interrupted so I'm trying to get it off of there so now what the camera should come right up when it's ready so now that my swivel is connected to my iPad you'll see that it has the camera and it's up and ready to go right here so that way you guys can kind of see this as it's safe the remote the camera should move also with me moving around wherever I go it's moving with me so that means or walk around there are there's also a cliff doing a whole group lesson or just having it and that is what it is for so on the remote you're going to see that this is at the end is your microphone so you're going to want that is closest to the person's hockey you're going to want to make sure I find you if you are sitting in a small groups and there's lots of students and it's the car is sitting there kids bodies are in the line of where it can pick it up so it starts to drift to the ceiling so do you see that it's drifting to the ceiling you just have to move the remote a little bit so here's how to actually record your lessons so now that you have everything set up your remote ready it's tracking it's doing what it needs look at your remote recording button on the side I'm going to click the red button and then you're going to notice that the red light came on you're also going to notice on actual iPad you're going to notice there's a red dot blinking in the corner so then you know that your recording is happening when you're done recording all you're going to do is the red recording button you're going to click it it's going go green and then you've seen the iPad is now doing something different so now it's wanting you to name your video so I'm going to name this I just pulled the swim underneath and you might feel it trying to still find the remote I'm just going to name this one Holly chaste so that way I have it bar and then if you can see this at the very top it's going to say done so I'm going to do done I know I'm going to ask you out of the video so that way I can see this screen right here so you're going to see the cloud right here and it's telling me that it's so it is already been there and so it has been removed from the device so now I'm video on this iPad anymore because he's on swivl Cloud so now that when I go to the store McLeod I'm going to see that test video there and I know that now my video recording has been done this will take a little longer the longer your video who is so when I'm done I'm just going to make sure that that is uploaded and removed I'm going to hit the home button and then I'm going to turn off the switch the device I'm going to unplug take out the iPad unplug from math and make sure that the remote is turned off power button is turned off you might have to hold it down for a minute and then what degree it's right inside so I just linked snap it in now it's ready to be charged back to my office all I have to do is close my pad is ready to go and I will it back down to record it so some tricks and tips to use with using the swivel you want to try to get it up higher than where you are or kind of by your guided reading table or in a place where students are going to be walking back and forth to the robot and so sometimes you have to like use the case and stack of the robots and you can stack it on the tray or a crate to prop it up more so that way easier so that's one way to do it and you just want to make sure that the remote can pick up voices so that's why you have the Felton you're pushing it toward the student not it's not drifting to the ceiling you're going to be so involved in your lesson you probably won't even notice that the robot is kind of up to the ceiling so if you're really wanting something specific that the students are doing to make sure where is the remote that it's picking up the camera angle that you want but the focus should be on your contact what's your what's your saying to the students what you're delivering to the student can you go back and watch the video and you're like oh my God that's on the ceiling just concentrate on the audio of the video and then next time we can look at a better way to do it if you do those steps that your video will go to because the app on the iPad is linked to this account so after your video is recorded it will automatically go change that shows you that your video is uploading so do not click out of that app until it says that it is finished and you'll see a little Cloud it says removed which means it's not on the iPad anymore it's now here living in the swivel account so you can see these are all of the videos that we have been making so far the easiest way the first time get your video you might want to click the three dots and go to move to a folder and it's that little button right there and move it to the folders so if you could just have then you can go to the grade level and that might be the easiest way to see if your grade level video so that way you can respond what's great about this is there any time that we pick a video look at those videos then we can go in to that video it won't load and then you can make comments and see other comment so leave a comment and then you can look at it and see it so that is kind of nice so that way you can go in and see different comments that people have left or that you need to leave the way you have that there
