Here's how you subtract 3 digit numbers using the base ten blocks strategy.

okay this is how to subtract with base ten blocks so let's say we have three hundred 89 - 100 24 K1 or subtracting we don't draw both numbers we just draw the whole and we Mark out this number so let's draw 300 80 9 ones so we're going to Mark out 124 so we need to Mark out 100 we need to Mark out two tens and we need to Mark out for 1 so I left 100-200 10 20 30 40 50 60 1 2 3 4 5 2 now where it gets a little bit different is this if we need group but let's say we wanted to subtract 500 31 - 100 75 since I'm subtracting I don't draw both numbers I draw the bigger number the 100 200 300 400-510-2030 and 1 1 do I need to Mark out this number so you can Mark out 100 and I need some workout but I don't have enough I only have three tens so when that happens we need to blast a hundred so I'm going to take this hundred I'm going to turn it into 10 tens because 10 tens is the same thing 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 and now I can cross out 7/10 1 to 3 or 5 I need to Mark out five ones but I don't have five once I only have one one so when that happens we need to blast a 10 and it's turned it into 10 ones instead 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 the same thing as one so now I can work at 5 1 2 3 4 5 then all we have to do is Count what's left 100 200 300 and 20 30 40 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 56
